OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE
FUNCTIONS OF THE CRIMINAL RECORDS OFFICE (C.R.O) The Criminal Records Office is located at Police Headquarters, Bridge Street, Castries. Currently, it is staffed by a Corporal, three Constables, one Woman Police Constable and a Civilian. There is an Administrative and a Technical section within the department. The Administrative Section is charged with the responsibility for: a) The issuing
of Certificates of Character.

Any person who is a national of St. Lucia and is desirous of obtaining a certificate of character locally, must make a purchase of a Certificate of Character form from the Criminal Records Office, at a cost of one dollar ($1.00EC). After the form is completed it is returned to the aforementioned office along with two (2) recent passport sized photographs, valid photo identification, such as a National Identification Card, Driver’s License or a passport, and cash in the sum of ten dollars ($10.00EC). For a national living outside of St. Lucia, such person is expected to take a set of fingerprints from the local authority in the country of residence, along with two (2) passport sized photographs and ten dollars ($10.00EC). In the event the individual requesting the Certificate of Character would like it posted to an address, such person is required to make available sufficient funds to defray postal expenses. It is important to note that photocopies of documents are not accepted. St.Lucian Nationals who are in the process of applying for U.S permanent residence, are required to submit three (3) passport sized photographs along with twenty dollars ($20.00 EC), when applying for a Certificate of Character. FIREARM APPLICATION Firearm application forms are also available at the Criminal Record Office at a cost of five dollars ($5.00EC). Subsequent to completion, the form is returned to the aforesaid office, along with two (2) recent passport sized photographs and the sum of fifty dollars ($50.00EC). Also required is a recent medical report from a Government Registered Medical Practitioner. The form and the other documents are then submitted to the Commissioner of Police with receipt for the fifty dollars ($50.00EC) attached.
