Drugs Found On Plantation at Morne Du Don

On Thursday the 5th of October 2006, about 5:00am, Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (C.I.D) in Castries and a team of officers from the Special Services Unit (S.S.U), conducted an operation in the Agard, Morne Du Don, Castries area, during which they discovered a marijuana plantation.

The officers uprooted approximately two hundred marijuana plants and arrested 26 year old Leonus Leriche of Agard in the process. He was subsequently charged for the offence of Possession of Controlled Drugs.

He appeared in court on Thursday the 5th of October 2006, where he pleaded guilty to the charge. He was fined $4000.00EC, the sum of $2000EC to be paid on the 6th of October 2006, or in default 4 months imprisonment, and the balance to be paid by the 31st of January 2007, or in default a further 4 months imprisonment.
