Foiled Robbery Update Soufriere Police, helped foiled a Robbery on the Soufriere – Fond St. Jacques Highway, on Friday the 29th of September 2006, about 1:00pm, when police received a call indicating that three men on board a grey Suzuki Swift, registration number: PC 7136, were attempting to rob a DIGICEL sales vehicle. The lawmen responded with alacrity and intercepted the aforementioned vehicle. Three men, namely: Lensley Mitchell, age 22 of Fond St. Jacques, Soufriere, Wayne Francis, age 26, of Marigot, Castries and Justin Simon, age 21 of Palmiste, Soufriere, were the occupants of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed one cutlass, a .22 pistol and four rounds of .22 ammunition and a quantity of cannabis. They were all arrested and charged for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. Justin Simon was further charged for Possession of Cannabis. The driver Wayne Francis was also charged for Driving Without license and Insurance. They were taken to court on Tuesday the 3rd of October 2006 in Soufriere. Wayne Francis pleaded guilty to Possession of Firearm and Ammunition and also for Driving without license and Insurance. He was fined $20,000EC, $6000EC to be paid forthwith, or in default 7 years imprisonment and the balance to be paid in 5 months or 7 years imprisonment, on the Firearm charge. He was also fined the sum of $750.00EC for the charge of Driving without License and $ 1000.00EC for the charge of Driving Without Insurance. He has to pay the fine forthwith or in default he will spend a further 7 years in prison. Justin Simon pleaded guilty for Possession of Cannabis and was fined $2500.00EC to be paid forthwith or in default, 3 months imprisonment.
