Drugs Found: - 26/06/06

On Thursday the 22nd of June 2006, about 4:45pm, a red omnibus Registration number: M842, plying route 4C, was stopped by members of the Drug Strike Force and Special Services Unit (S.S.U), whilst traveling down the Moule-A-Chique road. There were seven occupants on the omnibus. A search of the bus was conducted and seven parcels including two buckets, of compressed cannabis were found in the bus. The seven occupants of the bus were arrested for being in possession of Cannabis. The drugs weighed a total of 94 pounds and estimated at a street value of $56,400.00EC.

On Friday the 23rd of June 2006, the seven individuals namely: Simon Gaetan 37yrs, Peter Poyotte 30yrs, Joshua Edward 19yrs, Robert Jn. Baptiste 31yrs, John Isidore 47yrs, all of Vieux Fort and Donnon Bowens 18yrs, and Calvert Lavia 28yrs, both of St. Vincent, were brought to District Court, charged for being in possession of Controlled Drugs and Possession with Intent to Supply Controlled Drugs. All were remanded to attend court on Monday the 26th of June 2006, in Vieux Fort.

Update - 27/06/06

The seven men appeared in court in Vieux Fort on Monday the 26th Of June 2006, and bail was granted at a total amount of $13,000.00 EC each. An application was made for the forfeiture of the vehicle which they were traveling on at the time of their arrest.
