Man Found with unlicensed Firearm

The members of the Castries Drug Squad, along with officers from the Anse La Raye Police Station, executed a search warrant on the premises of Phillip Dariah popularly known as Ti – Frere of Morne D’or, quarter of Anse La Raye on Friday the 5th day of September 2008 about 5:50pm.
During the search, police found a thirteen (13) caliber M1 Riffle and seventy two rounds of ammunition. Sixty seven (67) which were discovered near the riffle and the balance of five rounds were found in another part of the house.
He was arrested and subsequently charged for the offences of Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He was charged separately for the ammunition, one charge for sixty seven (67) rounds and the other for being in possession of five (5) rounds.
Dariah appeared in court on Tuesday the 9th of September 2008, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was fined the sum of $2500 EC for the possession of firearm, to be paid by the 27th of March 2009, in default, 6 months imprisonment.
The first charge of possession of sixty seven rounds of ammunition, he was fined $1000 EC to be paid by the 20th of February 2009, in default three (3) months imprisonment. For the second charge of possession of 5 rounds of ammunition he was cautioned, reprimanded and discharged.
