On Sunday the 9th of July 2006, about 4:35pm, Laura Poleon of Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, was arrested at the Hewanorra International Airport, whilst attempting to board a Virgin Atlantic Flight to England with approximately half a kilogram of cocaine concealed on her person.

Poleon was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Attempting to Export Cocaine. On Monday the 10th of July 2006, Laura Poleon was brought to Second District Court in Vieux Fort and pleaded guilty to both charges. She was fined $25,000 EC, $15,000 to be paid forthwith or 12 months imprisonment and $10,000 to be paid within 4 months or 12 months imprisonment on the charge of Attempting to Export Cocaine. Poleon was Cautioned, Reprimanded and Discharged on the charge of Possession of Cocaine.
