Vieux-Fort Men on Drug and Firearm Charges

On Wednesday the 31st of January 2008, about 9:00am, the Vieux-Fort Special Services Unit (S.S.U.) intercepted a motor car, Toyota Mark 2, registration number: TX1016, which was travelling on a dirt road from the direction of Honey Moon Beach, Cannelles, Vieux-Fort.

      A thorough search of the car was conducted and the following items were recovered: Thirty-nine (39) pounds of Cannabis, one .45 pistol and sixteen (16) rounds of .45 ammunition. There were three men on board the car at the time and they were all arrested and taken into custody.

      On Friday the 2nd of January 2009, the men were each charged for the offences of Possession of Cannabis, Possession with Intent to Supply, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. They are: Onesimus Felix AKA “lion” 44 years of Grace, Vieux-Fort, Isiah Rismay, 28years of La Ressource, Vieux-Fort and Marcus Moonie, 32years of Belle Vue, Vieux-Fort.

      They appeared in court on Monday the 5th of January 2009, where Marcus Moonie and Isiah Rismay pleaded not guilty to the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition but those charges were withdrawn against them. However, they pleaded guilty to Possession of Cannabis and Possession with Intent to Supply.

      On the charge of Possession of Cannabis, each was fined $12,500EC to be paid in four months or in default eighteen months imprisonment. For the Possession with Intent to Supply, they were each fined the sum of $ 7500EC to be paid forthwith or in default nine months imprisonment.

      The other of the three, Onesimus Felix pleaded guilty to the charges of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. He was fined the sum of $15,000EC for the Possession of Firearm, the sum of $5000EC to be paid forthwith or two years hard labour and the balance of $10,000EC to be paid in five months or in default five years imprisonment. For the charge of Possession of Ammunition, he was fined the sum of$10,000EC, the sum of $3000EC to be paid forthwith or in default two years imprisonment and the balance of $7000EC to be paid in six months or in default five years imprisonment.
