Accident on Vieux-Fort Highway Claims Life of Two
Micoud police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Sharon Mathurin, 37 years of Morne-Du-Don, Castries and Amyah Nicholas, 8 years of Patterson’s Gap, Castries, who were involved in a traffic accident which occurred on the Micoud/Vieux-Fort highway, about 10:35am on Saturday the 21st of November, 2009.
It was reported that a Toyota Corolla, Station Wagon, maroon in colour, registration number: PD 3825, driven by Charphell Mathurin,36 years of Morne-Du-Don, was driving on the abovementioned highway, in the direction of Vieux-Fort, when it ran off the road and hit a utility pole then overturned.
There were five passengers on board the vehicle and they were taken to the George Odlum Stadium via ambulance, where Sharon Mathurin, wife of the driver and Amyah Nicholas were pronounced dead. Two other passengers, Triston Theodore, 16 years of Morne-Du-Don and Shem Abraham, also 16 years of Ciceron, Castries, were transferred to the Victoria Hospital where they were admitted. There was no report of physical injuries sustained by the driver. |
