Drugs Found in Locker at Vieux-Fort Fisheries Complex
On Monday the 1st of February, 2010, police officers attached to the Drug Squad and Special Services Unit (S.S.U.), Vieux-Fort, conducted a joint operation at the Vieux-Fort Fisheries Complex, where several lockers were searched, which resulted in the discovery of forty-one pounds (41lbs) of compressed marijuana in a locker owned by Lawrence Henry, a.k.a. “Trek”, 53 years old, of Bruceville, Vieux-Fort.
Henry was arrested and subsequently charged for the offences of possession of controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply. He appeared in court on Tuesday the 2nd of February, 2010, where he was granted bail in the sum of $10,000EC, cash or suitable surety for the charge of possession of controlled drugs. In relation to the charge of possession with intent to supply, bail was granted in the sum of $15,000EC, of which $5000EC is to be paid in cash and the remainder of $10,000EC, suitable surety. The case was adjourned to the 2nd of March, 2010.
Members of the Drug Squad attached to Vieux-Fort and Castries, also conducted a joint eradication exercise on a plantation at Thomazo, quarter of Dennery and another at Vigier, quarter of Micoud ,where a quantity of nine hundred and thirty-eight (938) marijuana plants were destroyed. No one was arrested during the operation.
