Sunny Acres Resident Charged for Firearm
On Tuesday the 9th of February, 2010, about 1:00am, Police officers attached to the Drug Squad, Castries, conducted a search at a house at Sunny Acres, Castries, where a .25 pistol along with six rounds of ammunition were found.
One person known as Brian Cornibert, 41 years of Sunny Acres, who was at the house at the time, was arrested and subsequently charged for the possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
He appeared in court on Wednesday the 10th of February, 2010, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. With reference to the charge of possession of firearm, he was fined the sum of $10,000EC to be paid in forty-eight hours or in default twelve months imprisonment. In relation to the charge of possession of ammunition, he was ordered to pay the sum of $5000EC in thirty days, or in default, six months imprisonment. The officers also conducted a search at a house on St.John Street, Gros-Islet, about 10:30pm, on Monday the 8th of February, 2010, where a black ski mask and a pair of camouflage trousers and a cap were found. No one was arrested during this operation.
