Robbery at Hotel in Soufriere, Two in Police Custody

On Wednesday the 7th of July, 2010, about 3:00am, Soufriere police responded to a report of Robbery at the Anse-Chastenet Hotel, in Soufriere, where the sum of approximately $17,000EC was stolen from the vault.
According to reports, at the aforesaid time and date, five masked men who were armed with firearms, approached two security guards who were on duty and tied them while the masked men broke into an office and took possession of the keys to the vault. The night auditor was also tied and placed in an area to the back of the building.
Upon opening the vault, the men stole the sum of approximately $17,000EC and fled the scene thereafter. After arriving on the scene, the police found a homemade firearm which was left behind by one of the perpetrators.
Soufriere police have since arrested two men in connection with this incident. The sum of money in question, has not been recovered. |
