Shooting Incident at Micoud About 6:00am on Saturday, the 21st of October 2006, police officers attached to the Micoud Police Station received information concerning a motor omnibus traveling from Vieux Fort to Castries, with a passenger armed with a firearm and in possession of controlled drugs. A team of police officers armed with firearms, left the station and proceeded to the Castries/Vieux Fort Highway, near the Ti-Rocher, Micoud gap. Police attempted to stop the aforesaid vehicle but was unsuccessful and discharged gunshots as a result. Three passengers on board the vehicle got injured, namely: Agnita Samuel, Thadeus Laurent and Maurison Flavius. Agnita Samuel was treated and discharged from the St. Jude’s Hospital. Thadeus Laurent is still admitted at the St. Jude’s Hospital. Maurison Flavius, age 70 of Saltibus, Laborie, succumbed to his injuries at St. Jude’s Hospital about 6:00am on Sunday the 22nd of October 2006. A team of police officers from the Major Crimes Unit of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force, headed by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, has been assigned to investigate the matter. A post mortem examination is scheduled for Monday the 23rd of October 2006 at 2:00pm. The Commissioner of police is in discussion with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with reference to the matter and it is anticipated a full report will be submitted to her office within 72 hours. In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police has placed the officers involved on administrative leave, pending a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
