On Wednesday the 26th day of April 2006, about 4:40pm, Marvin
Mathurin of Monier, Gros Islet, employee of Caribbean Metals,
was riding a motor cycle on the Union Road heading towards Castries
to make a cash deposit. The sum of $30,000 in cash and $171,000
in cheques were in his possession.
Upon reaching the junction of the Allan Bousquet Highway and
Union Hill Top road, about 300 feet away from the Caribbean Metals
entrance, a white Nissan motor car reg. # PC1722, which was traveling
towards Union, drove towards the motor cycle from the opposite
direction and collided with it. A masked man armed with a firearm
then came out of the front passenger seat of the car and began
shooting at Mathurin. Mathurin then ran towards the direction
of Caribbean Metals.
The men fled the scene by stealing a Nissan pick up van reg.
# FAR1226 from Pius Edward who was driving in the direction of
Union at the time.
Police arrested one man namely; Fitz Gerald St.Omer, who was
hiding in the bushes. He had a blue handkerchief tied around his
neck.
Investigation is continuing.
