Arrest At Sandy Beach, Vieux Fort

On Monday the 30th of October 2006, about 7:30pm, personnel from Drug Squad Vieux Fort conducted an operation at Sandy Beach, Vieux Fort. During the course of the operation, a Pick Up van was observed driving to an area of the said beach where it stopped for a short period. The team proceeded to the location where the vehicle stopped and apprehended three individuals. Two polythene bags containing 36 lbs of cannabis were recovered.

The three individuals arrested are, Winston Mark and Jude Mark of Morne Vert, Vieux Fort and Albert Renee of Maganier, Vieux Fort, were charged for the Possession of Cannabis. They were brought to the Vieux Fort District Court on Wednesday the 1st of November 2006, where they pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bail was granted by the court in the sum of $12,000.00 EC, cash or suitable surety for each.

The cannabis recovered has a street value of $21,000.00 EC.
