On Tuesday the 29th of December 2009, The Royal St. Lucia Police Force held its second Inaugural Awards Ceremony.

It was held at The Gaiety, Massade, Gros-Islet.  The event commenced at 7pm.

After the guests were ushered to their seats, The Royal St.Lucia Police Band played the National Anthem which was first on the agenda for the night’s proceedings.  Thereafter, the opening prayer was read by Fr.Conrad, of the Roman Catholic Church, followed by the welcome and opening remarks by Mistress of Ceremony, WPC Tamara Charles Wilfred.

Some of the invited guests were: The Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, the Minister for Home Affairs and National Security, Guy Mayers and the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Fortuna Belrose. There were many other invited guests including recent retirees who were recognized for their dedicated service whilst they served as members of the Force.

There were brief addresses delivered by the Commissioner of Police, Ausbert Regis and the National Security Minister. In his address, the Commissioner of Police congratulated the officers for their achievements and urged them to continue working towards excellence.

The Minister responsible for National Security issued a challenge to the officers of the Royal St.Lucia Police Force, to reduce crime by 50%, for the year 2010.

The Police Band entertained the audience with unsurpassed music which was enjoyed by all in attendance and there was a cocktail reception afterwards.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the President of the Police Welfare Association, Constable Martin James.

In an effort to show visible appreciation of the hard work of officers, the Police Force distributed various categories of awards to individual officers.   This was facilitated via a process of nominations and every person who received an award was dressed in resplendent attire.
