Mohammed Duncan, who is originally from Mon Du Don, Castries, but whose last place of residence was Bruce Ville, Vieux Fort, was at the time serving a seven year prison term for the offence of possession of firearm and ammunition. He was also on remand, awaiting trial for the offence of Attempted Murder, after he was arrested and charged for shooting a Justice of the Peace in Vieux Fort
